Keloid scars are abnormal, raised irregular shaped scars that form as the skin heals from an incision. It is unknown what exactly causes Keloid scars however, with advances in technology, there are a variety of lasers now used to treat these types of scars and improve there appearance.
Treatment of scars with lasers does not require any anesthesia and can be done in the comfort of our office. Most patients will experience some bruising and/or redness of the area for a week or two following the treatment. Multiple treatments are usually needed for optimal improvement. Treatments are spaced approximately two to four weeks apart and the final result may take three to six months to achieve.
